This past Saturday, July 24th, Drifting Pretty kicked off their 2nd Annual ladies karting series at K1 Speed in Ontario, CA. This was the first event in a series of 3.
We had a great mix of drivers, like Nadine’s 13-year-old daughter, a couple first-time karters mixed with some of our seasoned karters, which all made for a great event.
We congratulate Debbie Meda for winning this round. Debbie has been with Drifting Pretty for over 2 years and this is her first win. Debbie’s impressive time landed her at #8 on K1′s best times of the week.
In addition, one of our Northern California Chapter members, Rochelle Desamito, who drove down just for the race, won an impressive 2nd place.

As we finish our 1st Quarter of the school year, B&G Suspension Systems of San Diego, CA has stepped in as our newest program supporter. They will be awarding our top performing member of Quarter 1 with a new set of performance springs for their race-car. In addition, B&G has signed up to be our 2nd and final field-trip destination for 2010. In September, Drifting Pretty will visit their headquarters for a field trip and suspension workshop.
1st Quarter Tests are given this Sunday, May 23rd and the winner will be announced Monday. Best of luck ladies and a big thank you to B&G Suspension for their generous support!

On Saturday, February 6th Drifting Pretty meets to kick-off their 7th year in operation. Drifting Pretty welcomes Liz Medina as the new Executive Administrator, Masashi Motonaga as their AutoX Advisor for the Northern California Chapter and Jamie Lessie as AutoX Advisor for the Southern California Chapter. In attendance will be 3 additional prospective members looking to join Drifting Pretty. What a great start to what looks like an exciting year!

Nadine Hsu was interviewed and was included, along with Drifting Pretty, in an article published by the London Times. The article titled “Girl racers terrorise streets of LA”, written by John Harlow, centers around illegal street racing within the younger Asian American female community. Although a bit exaggerated of the racing culture here in Southern California, there is truth in it’s depiction of danger in street racing and the attention that it is getting from law makers.

K1 Speed, Southern California’s premier venue for indoor karting, has just agreed to become Drifting Pretty’s official partner. With 5 locations in Southern California to choose from, we will be conducting many of our meetings at K1. Welcome K1 Speed! We’re all very excited to hone our skills on your electric karts!
